Marie Gervais

Marie has served since 1988 as a professor at Laval University, Canada, in charge of training in evaluation in the health sector. She represents her university in consortia of universities in Quebec and Canada. She has been active in evaluation for nearly 25 years. She regularly serves as visiting professor in Africa and Europe. She is involved in several evaluation projects and capacity building projects internationally, mainly in Africa, with national evaluation associations, universities and state institutions. She is a consultant for various organizations such as UNICEF WCARO and CLEAR for Francophone Africa.

Ms. Gervais is Vice-President of IOCE Vice-President and Vice-President of the Réseau francophone d’évaluation (RFE). She is strongly committed to the promotion of evaluation in the Francophone world. She is also a member of many VOPEs, including AEA, AES, AfrEA, CaDEA, CES, EES, EvalMENA, IDEAS, MASSE, ReBuSE, RISE and SenEval.

Ms. Gervais is a Credentialed Evaluator with the Canadian Evaluation Society (CES). For her outstanding contribution to the advancement of the theory and practice of evaluation, she was recipient of the 2012 Award for Contribution to Evaluation in Canada granted by CES and of the 2007 Recognition Award granted by SQEP. She is currently a member of the Editorial Board of the African Evaluation Journal and was guest editor of the special issue in the context of the 25th anniversary of the Canadian Journal of Program Evaluation.
